Programme 2026: Exhibitions, events and activities you won’t want to miss!

Posted on 21 November 2025

Programació 2026

This programme reflects the Foundation’s desire to consolidate the lines of action outlined throughout 2024. It presents a high-quality, rigorous and coherent programme, both in terms of exhibitions and Public Programmes, with the tutelary and ever-present figure of Joan Miró alongside young artists of recognised talent and promising careers. We aim to remain faithful to Joan Miró’s wish to open his Foundation to experimentation and contemporary creativity.

ART AND RESEARCH: EXHIBITIONS

03/2026 _ PERMANENT EXHIBITION _ REDISCOVERING MIRÓ’S. MAGICAL SPARK

The 2026 programme is led by the exhibition Rediscovering Miró’s Magical Spark, which will open in March 2026 at Espai Estrella and will follow the structure of the current presentation of Joan Miró within the Paysage Miró project, while introducing new and previously unseen themes and works. As the Foundation has not yet been able to explore the full range of materials and objects bequeathed by Joan Miró, a second part of The Magical Spark will be presented, focusing on new thematic approaches and giving greater prominence to works from the Foundation’s own collection, as well as pieces from private collections on the island that are relevant to the themes addressed. Poetry, dance and literature will be explored in greater depth, as will the settings and studios in which the artist lived and worked. Special attention will be paid to the architecture of the Sert Studio, as 2026 marks the 70th anniversary of its completion (1956).

ART AND RESEARCH: EXHIBITIONS

09/2026 _ PERMANENT EXHIBITION _ REDISCOVERING MIRÓ’S. MAGICAL SPARK
09/2026 _ TEMPORARY EXHIBITIONS

ESPAI ZERO

Isabel Servera (Artà, 1986) holds a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona, where she also completed a Master’s in Artistic Production and Research. Her work is characterised by an interest in artistic practice, its object, and the processes and elements involved in it, whether or not they are susceptible to control. She represented the Balearic Islands at ARCO 2025 with Perímetro de seguretat, curated by Pilar Cruz, and in 2022 presented Llatrar in Artà, a project curated by Fernando Gómez de la Cuesta.

ESPAI CÚBIC

Pedro Torres (Brazil, 1982) focuses his work on the use of images, objects and highly complex installations. His practice engages with concepts such as time, memory, distance and language, and frequently incorporates scientific approaches derived from experimentation. The image is always present, both as a tool and as a concept, underpinning explorations of the relationship between memory formation and images, the links between image, history and language, and the appropriation and decontextualisation of images. He has been awarded a residency grant from the Tabacalera programme through the Spanish Ministry of Culture to develop a project at the Foundation starting in November 2025, which will be presented here.

AUDITORIUM

Carlos Casas (Barcelona, 1974), filmmaker, presented Bestiari, curated by Filipa Ramos, at the 2024 Venice Biennale, in the Catalan Pavilion. The work is based on La disputa de l’ase (1417) by the Mallorcan author Anselm Turmeda, a lively dialogue between Friar Anselm and a donkey that debates the supposed superiority of humans over animals, revealing the author’s deep doctrinal scepticism. The piece creates an immersive experience through images and sounds of animals and nature.

EDUCATION, PUBLIC PROGRAMMES AND PRINTMAKING WORKSHOPS

The 2026 programme proposed by the Education Service, Public Programmes and Printmaking Workshops of the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró a Mallorca offers a broad, coherent and diverse range of activities, articulating lines of action in the fields of education, creation, research and artistic and cultural dissemination. It stands out for its continuity with well-established programmes and for the incorporation of new collaborations and high-quality projects at both local and international levels.

Highlights of this year’s programme include:

MUSIC

  • Concert by Alain Planés (Lyon, 1948), programme: Erik Satie. Date to be confirmed.
  • Concert by Vincent Hsu (Taiwan–New York), Latin Jazz Ensemble. His musical style combines jazz and Afro-Cuban music, evoking the atmosphere of the “Bal Nègre” on rue Blomet, frequented by Miró and his friends in Paris in the 1920s and 1930s.
  • Cycle “Miró and Music”, in collaboration with the Deià International Music Festival. Three concerts in 2026.
  • “Mallorca me suena” Festival, two concerts: Spring Concert and Christmas Concert.
  • ACA – Electroacoustic Music Encounters, contemporary classical music.
  • Paco de Lucía Festival. Ocarina workshop by Úrsula Pomar, II Young Talents Grant of the Paco de Lucía Mallorca Festival. 15 March.

ACADEMIC ACTIVITY

  • III International Symposium on Joan Miró: As 2026 marks the 70th anniversary of the construction of the Sert Studio, this symposium will be devoted to its architecture. Participants will include Josep Massot, who will offer an overview of the period of Miró’s arrival in Mallorca; Guillem Aloy, recipient of the previous year’s Pilar Juncosa Research Grant, awarded for his research on Son Abrines and Miró’s studios; Patricia Juncosa, architect and Head of the Art and Research Department of the Foundation; as well as the distinguished presence of architect Jaume Freixa, a close collaborator and deep connoisseur of the work and personality of Josep Lluís Sert.
  • I Conference on Landscape Design.
The unique feature of having a garden positions the Foundation as an appropriate space for fostering reflection on contemporary landscape design, with a view to addressing a future renovation of the gardens that will provide a suitable setting for the magnificent sculptures by Joan Miró they house. Peter Murray, founder of the Yorkshire Sculpture Park; Luciano Giubbilei of Giubbilei Studio in London; Joan Nadal, founder of Jardins Tramuntana; and representatives from the Botanical Museum of Sóller (MUBO) or the Jardins d’Alfàbia will be among the distinguished speakers taking part in this conference.
