Antònia Maria Perelló Ferrer is now the new managing director of the Fundació

The session of the Board of Trustees of the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró a Mallorca, chaired by the mayor of Palma Jaime Martínez, has ratified the nomination of Antònia Maria Perelló as the new managing director of the Fundació.

Antònia Maria Perelló Ferrer (Palma, 1958) has been chosen to assume the managing direction of the Fundació Miró Mallorca at the proposal of the independent selection commission established as a result of the process intended to fill this highly responsible position. The decision was communicated on April 12 and today it has been ratified by the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.

The members of the commission based their choice of Perelló on his extensive experience in the field of cultural management, and especially within the field of museums related to contemporary art. Likewise, the experts considered that the project presented by the candidate was fully adapted to the needs raised throughout this new stage at the Fundació Miró Mallorca, focused on the vindication of the space as one of the neuralgic axes of the cultural policies promoted from Palma City Council.

The new managing director of the Foundation has been serving until now as head of the Collection and curator of the MACBA, in Barcelona. She has a doctorate in Art History from the University of Barcelona, ​​where, for a long period, between 1989 and 2008, she was a professor on the Master of Museology. As a result of his management at the MACBA, he has curated some of the most outstanding exhibitions of all those that have been organized in said cultural space, also carrying out individual artistic projects of great national and international impact.

 

 

Likewise, she has worked as a curator for the Barcelona City Council’s Exhibition Service, taking part in such relevant cultural actions as the exhibitions ‘Barceló, Barcelona’, ‘Antoni Gaudí i el modernisme català’ or ‘Barcelona creació i artistes catalans contemporanis’. Antònia Maria Perelló has developed, in parallel, intense research work linked to the architecture of the modern era, museology and artistic contemporaneity, publishing numerous specialized articles and books as recognized within her field as ‘The Bauhaus’, ‘Art, Arquitectura , museus’, ‘Miradas’, ‘Espaliú i la màscara’, ‘Més enllà de l’objecte’ or, more recently, ‘Barcelona-Paris-New York’ (2021), among other titles.

At the same time, Perelló has maintained his personal and professional link with his land of origin, where, in 2015, he taught, at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), the inaugural lecture of the Master in Cultural Heritage. Outside of Spain, the new managing director of the Fundació Miró Mallorca has participated in projects developed in Seoul or Lima, where she was a guest professor for the Master in Cultural Management at the University of Piura.
