Joan Miró
Jeune fille s’évadant (Girl escaping), 1967

Painted bronze
182 x 45 x 60 cm
Susse Fondeur, Paris
H.C. II/II

Private collection

The inspiration upon this sculpture is related to the femme-enfant, the innocent and pure woman-girl, perceived as a mediator for the surrealists. However, Jeune’s mannequin’s legs are still fading and his seductive pose evokes pin-ups, women of ideal beauty belonging to popular culture that have aroused the interest of some pop artists. In the Sert Studio we can discover a good repertoire of pin-ups that can be related to the sculpture that we can see in the entrance hall of the Fundació Miró Mallorca.
