Exhibition “Utopía del Lodo, Sashimi de Bruma”

Exposiciones, Visits

"Utopía del Lodo, Sashimi de Bruma" is an immersive installation by the artist Grip Face that engages with the current global landscape of armed conflict. Focusing on the human cost of war—particularly its impact on civilians and children—the work employs a powerful symbolic visual language. Rather than making direct statements, the installation conveys a clear pacifist and anti-war stance through evocative imagery and atmosphere.

We invite you to join a guided conversation with the artist Grip Face and the curator Raquel Victòria around the exhibition Utopía del Lodo, Sashimi de Bruma. The project takes the form of an installation made up of twelve hanging sculptures—masks bound with cords of thorns—arranged to echo the symbol of the European Union. This layout challenges the idea of Europe as a peaceful territory, exposing its contradictions in the face of ongoing armed conflicts.

Informed by reports of bombings in children’s playgrounds in places such as Gaza or Ukraine, the swing emerges as a powerful image addressing the vulnerability of childhood in wartime. During the visit, the artist and curator will reflect on the creative process and the site-specific nature of the work, opening up a critical space to consider European identity, collective memory, and the precariousness of contemporary peace.
