Joan Miró. Women, Birds, Stars, is one of the itinerant proposals offered by the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona. The exhibition will bring together more than a hundred works, around thirty photographs and eight films. Women, birds, stars, but also the sun, the moon, constellations and the scale, make up the imaginary of Miró’s cosmology. In the works on display, visitors will discover Joan Miró’s unique vocabulary of signs, the way he experimented with different techniques and materials and gave new life to everyday objects. The title of the exhibition refers to the recurring themes that the artist addressed during forty years of his career and especially in his last stage in Mallorca.
The exhibition is organized into four sections that trace a journey through the development of Miró’s language through the sign, the object, reduction and black, until reaching the absolute freedom of the period of maturity and always transmitting a universal and timeless message.
The Museu de Arte Brasileira (MAB) is one of the most emblematic cultural institutions in São Paulo, dedicated exclusively to the preservation and dissemination of Brazilian artistic production. Founded in 1961 and managed by the Armando Alvares Penteado Foundation (FAAP), it houses a collection of more than 3,000 works and is located in the Higienópolis neighborhood. The main lobby is presided over by an impressive 350 m² stained glass window, composed of 59 panels designed by renowned Brazilian artists, which serves as the perfect anteroom to the museum experience. In addition to paintings and sculptures, the MAB has a unique collection of costumes by Brazilian designers and a film library with thousands of titles. The tour includes outdoor spaces and a sculpture garden of more than 1,200 m² with works by contemporary artists
The second venue, Caixa Cultural Brasília, is part of a network of cultural spaces managed by Caixa Econômica Federal, inaugurated in 1980. Located in the heart of the capital, it offers a multidisciplinary program that includes art, theater, music and dance exhibitions, serving as a vital space for cultural diffusion and artistic expression in Brazil. Through the “Seleção CAIXA Cultural” program, artists and producers from all over Brazil can submit their works to be integrated into the program. This initiative is part of the financial institution’s efforts to promote art and culture and offer modern and accessible spaces for the community.
Instituto Totex, a collaborator of the exhibition, based in São Paulo, is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of culture, art and education. It was founded in 2023 by Paulo Bonfá and Roberto Souza Leão with the aim of connecting the Brazilian public with iconic figures of international art through large-scale exhibitions.
