€44,000 in awards for emerging creators and artists
All applications must be submitted through the digital platform MundoArti.com. To participate in this year’s call, it is essential to complete the registration form via this platform. Documentation must be submitted in Catalan, Spanish, or English, and there is a €1.50 fee per proposal, charged by the platform for management purposes.
In accordance with the wishes of its founders, the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró a Mallorca seeks to promote and disseminate contemporary creative values, to support young generations of artists in their training, and to encourage them in their bid to innovate and in a genuine quest for new creative pathways.
It also aspires to foster research into the life and work of Joan Miró and his artistic and cultural milieu, particularly lesser-known aspects.
It also aims to contribute to recognition of the example he set, in his life and work, through educational programmes and projects directed at raising a better awareness of contemporary art among society and promoting inclusive, participatory opportunities for learning, able to help bring about social change.
With the support of the Palma City Council, the Mallorca Island Council, the Regional Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports, the Government of the Balearic Islands, and Spain’s Ministry of Culture and Sports, a total of €44,000 will be awarded this year through the following prizes and grants:
PILAR JUNCOSA BIENNIAL PRINTMAKING AWARD
Fundació Miró Mallorca holds the Pilar Juncosa Printmaking Award on a biennial basis, with a prize of €12,000.
The aim of this award is to facilitate the creation of a printmaking project that fosters research and experimentation into techniques and processes in the field of printmaking and printed series, including engraving, woodcut, lithography, and screen-printing techniques of all kinds, the application of new technologies, photography, etc.
The award seeks to promote both the winning artist and Joan Miró’s printmaking studios. The studios (located in Son Boter, an 18th century estate house adapted for use as art studios by the artist) are today one of the Foundation’s distinctive hallmarks.
The winning project must be created within a maximum of one year of notification of the jury’s decision. It will be printed in Fundació Miró Mallorca’s printmaking studios. The number of copies to be produced will be agreed upon and divided equally between Fundació Miró Mallorca and the artist.

PILAR JUNCOSA AWARD FOR RESEARCH INTO MIRÓ AND HIS ARTISTIC AND CULTURAL MILIEU
Fundació Miró Mallorca is offering a research grant worth €8,000 for research into Joan Miró and/or his artistic and cultural milieu.
One of the Foundation’s founding objectives is to support and promote research into Joan Miró’s life and artistic career and a raised awareness of both.
Special consideration will be given to projects aimed at studying little-known aspects or periods of Joan Miró’s life, as well as the use of information obtained from our documentary archives.
The proposed projects must be unpublished on their submission, and they must remain unpublished until the winner or winners have submitted the final paper to the Foundation. Hence, the Foundation’s prior written authorization must be given for the partial or total dissemination or publication of the work in any form whatsoever before the completed version has been submitted.
The winning research project must be carried out within a maximum of one year of notification of the jury’s decision.
The Foundation will appoint a person to oversee the work.
The Foundation reserves the right to present the winning work and to publish it, always by mutual agreement with the author.

PILAR JUNCOSA AWARD FOR INNOVATION IN ART EDUCATION
CALL FOR ENTRIES AND PURPOSE OF THE AWARD
Fundació Miró Mallorca is offering an award for an art education project, with a prize of €8,000.
The entrants in this category must submit an art education project that innovates either in terms of its educational method or through experimentation into artistic creation.
The project must also be targeted at younger audiences (aged 18 to 30). Its aims must be the promotion of contemporary art and the encouragement of younger sectors of society’s engagement with it, generating opportunities for participation, mediation and creativity in consonance with their interests, languages and cultural contexts.
The project must also be based on the concept of contemporary creation, forging meaningful dialogue between current artistic practices and the social realities of young people. The proposed projects must address their forms of expression, encouraging a critically analysed fusion with technology, where the latter is not simply a vehicle, but a focal point of debate used to question the biases, materialities and narratives of the digital age.
PILAR JUNCOSA GRANTS FOR ART EDUCATION PROJECTS FOR ITS FAMILIES PROGRAMME
Fundació Miró Mallorca is offering two grants for the development of art education projects, each with funding of €3,000.
The projects must be inspired by the work of Joan Miró and the Foundation’s approach to education and creativity, and it must have a family focus, aimed at bringing contemporary art closer to family audiences and at encouraging creativity through his work. They must also be designed to suit a diverse audience, including activities for different age groups.
The grant involves the creation, design and full implementation of the project. During the project’s implementation, support will be provided by Fundació Miró Mallorca’s educational team. This support does not need to be specified in the submitted proposal, but it can be defined once the grant has been awarded.
When the entries are assessed, the jury will take into account the feasibility of the project in terms of the Foundation’s infrastructure, organization and educational team.
The art education project for the Families Programme must be submitted with two adapted family versions (adults and children), aimed at two age groups:
• 3 to 6 years old.
• 7 to 12 years old.
The two selected projects must be carried out between January and June of the year following notification of the awarded grants as part of Fundació Miró Mallorca’s ‘Creative Worlds’ Families Programme.

TRAINING GRANTS TO TAKE PART IN COURSES AT JOAN MIRÓ’S PRINTMAKING STUDIOS
4 GRANTS OPEN TO ARTISTS INTERESTED IN PRINTMAKING TECHNIQUES AND PRINTED EDITIONS
Fundació Miró Mallorca is offering four grants to artists interested in printmaking techniques and printed editions to enable them to take part in one of the courses organized annually at Joan Miró’s printmaking studios.
Each grant consists of free enrolment on one of the courses/workshops held the following year and a gross sum of €2,000 to cover travel, accommodation and other expenses.
The beneficiaries may choose the course they wish to take part in.
The course programme will be published from April onwards at www.miromallorca.com
1 TRAINING GRANT FOR THE WINNER OF THE CERTAMEN DE ARTE GRÁFICO PARA JÓVENES CREADORS (YOUNG CREATORS’ PRINTMAKING AWARD)
Since 1996, Fundació Miró Mallorca has collaborated in the Young Creators’ Printmaking Award, organized by the Calcografía Nacional of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, the Real Casa de la Moneda and Fundación Azcona.
The Foundation will award a training grant to one of the winners of the Young Creators’ Printmaking Award.
This consists of free enrolment on one of the courses run at Fundació Miró Mallorca’s printmaking studios and a gross amount of up to €2,000 to cover expenses related to attendance of the course.
To be eligible for this grant, the applicants must enter the Young Creators’ Printmaking Award. If they win, the jury of the said award (whose members include Fundació Miró Mallorca) shall then decide on the grant.
