The Fundació Miró Mallorca brings the work of Joan Miró and his relationship with the United States to the FLEM

The creative dialogue between Miró and literature

At this year’s festival, which will be held at INNSiDE Calviá Beach, the Fundació will exhibit some of the lithographs that Joan Miró created for the poetry collection “Maravillas con variaciones acrósticas en el jardín de Miró” (Marvels with acrostic variations in the garden of Miró), written by Rafael Alberti and dedicated to the painter. Created fifty years ago, these compositions reflect Miró’s deep relationship with literature. Throughout his career, the artist found refuge and inspiration in the written word, as well as the opportunity to work with numerous writers, and evokes writing in many of his works through his abstract calligraphy.

The exhibition, entitled “Alberti, Miró – Poet, Painter”, located in one of the secret rooms, will bring together ten of the twenty lithographs from the series, as well as some of Alberti’s poems, to highlight the relationship between word and image.
