This Sunday, 21 December, the newspaper Última Hora has published the monograph «La estela de Miró», a special issue dedicated to the Paysage Miró project, the most ambitious celebration of Joan Miró in Palma. The monograph offers a comprehensive overview of the project and the artist’s creative journey from 1916 to 1981, through four major exhibition spaces that dialogue with one another, including the exhibition “La Guspira Màgica”, which presents an innovative perspective on Miró’s creative universe.
From the Fundació Miró Mallorca, and from the collection of spaces that make up its creative landscape — the Sert Workshop, Son Boter and their surroundings — this monograph allows for an in-depth exploration of the indissoluble relationship between Miró, his working process and Mallorca. The feature highlights the enduring relevance of his work and the strength of a legacy that continues to resonate with the present.
The special issue also revives the spirit of the memorable 1978 monograph, published to mark Miró’s major retrospective at sa Llotja, and brings together expert perspectives and voices to reflect on why Miró’s work remains so vibrant, relevant and inspiring almost half a century later.
Paysage Miró is possible thanks to an unprecedented institutional alliance between the Government of the Balearic Islands, the City Council of Palma, the Consell de Mallorca, the Fundació Miró Mallorca, Es Baluard Museum of Contemporary Art of Palma, the Museu de Mallorca and Casal Solleric, with the collaboration of the Miró Succession, the Museo Reina Sofía and Galeria Pelaires. A collective effort that allows the work and genius of Joan Miró to be returned to the public, to public spaces and to the main centres of contemporary art in Mallorca.
