The exhibition “Jujol. An architecture in progress” is curated by the artist and poet Perejaume and is part of the World Capital of Architecture that Barcelona will celebrate in 2026. This is the first major exhibition dedicated to Josep Maria Jujol, following the donation of the architect’s entire documentary collection that the family has made to the COAC and the MNAC. Jujol was one of Antoni Gaudí’s main collaborators, with whom he worked in perfect creative synchrony, on projects such as Parc Güell. Some works will be shown that bear witness to this deep relationship, which so influenced and enriched Gaudí’s artistic and architectural work. In addition to Jujol’s works from his legacy and other public and private collections, the exhibition will present a set of works by architects, such as Antoni Gaudí, Lluís Domènech i Montaner or Bruno Taut, and artists such as Pablo Picasso, Henry Matisse, Joan Miró or Jean Arp.

For the piece on loan, Joan Miró chose a cutout from a page of the Diario de Mallorca, in which black ink spots appear printed randomly distributed on the paper. It seems that Miró’s intervention consists precisely in the selection and appropriation of these spots and their incorporation into his creative universe.
