Synopsis:
Their friendship began in the 1980s and continues four decades later. Since that early period, Miquel Barceló (the artist) in his studios in Paris, Mali, Majorca… has been photographed by Jean-Marie del Moral (the photographer).
The images, frozen in time, reveal the artist’s life journey and illuminate the mystery of his artistic creation.
In 1978, the young photographer (son of Spanish exiles, born in France in 1952), sent by the newspaper L’Humanité, entered a painter’s studio for the first time. That was Joan Miró. From that day on, Del Moral would never stop photographing painters and sculptors and, above all, the mental space of the studios and the objects that inhabit them. From Miró to Ai Weiwei: Tàpies, Saura, Lichtenstein, Motherwell, Esther Ferrer, Campano, Fenosa, Chillida, Antonio López…
With a powerful photographic narrative spanning almost 40 years, Del Moral creates a revealing profile of Miquel Barceló and constructs a moving chronicle of Spanish and contemporary art.

Special PHOTOFEST event with Jean Marie del Moral and Francesco Giaveri, including a visit to the “Horta Picasso – Miró Mont-Roig” exhibition and the Claudio Zulián exhibition, followed by refreshments in the gardens. An opportunity to delve deeper into the photographic gaze and creative processes.

A talk on the concepts of the artist’s studio, landscape and objects, which will highlight the links between photography, art and the Miró legacy, in the Foundation’s Auditorium.
